In this post, I’ll cover the basics of cerebral palsy claims in the UK.  You may find that you or someone close to you is suffering from CP and would like to know if it’s possible to get compensation for any related injuries. In this article, I’ll discuss what kind of claim you can make and how much money you might be able to receive as part of a settlement or judgment.

The type of claim you can make.

As well as claiming compensation for medical negligence, you can also take legal action against a third party who is responsible for your injury. For example, if someone has been driving dangerously and caused an accident which left you with a disability, they may be liable to pay damages.

This type of claim is known as “delictual liability”. Delictual claims are generally made against the NHS or private medical providers because they have failed in their duty of care towards patients and this has resulted in them becoming disabled. However, it’s important to remember that there are other situations where it might be possible to bring a claim against another individual or organisation whose actions led directly or indirectly (through another person) towards your disability.
