Watchmaker Maurice Lacroix comes from an assembly plant in Saignelégier, Switzerland, a production facility that assembles watches on behalf of well-known manufacturers. In 1961, the Zurich-based Desco von Schulthess AG acquired the company for the production of its own-brand watches. In 1975, the private label Maurice Lacroix was founded, and a watch with a stylized "M" was first sold in Austria. Beginning in the 1980s, the brand has also successfully established itself in countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Maurice Lacroix acquired Swiss case maker Queloz SA in 1989 and has since been one of the few brands to produce most of its cases in-house. Among other things, the brand's success is based on its own production of modern and detached houses. The high quality standards and attention to detail are definitely noticeable in the case. As one of the first manufacturers, Le Méridien created the possibility of viewing the inside of the filigree through the back of the glass case.
